Arch Bristow was a famous newspaper man in Northwestern Pennsylvania and authoring the magazine, The Hay Rake in the 1920s and 30s. I wanted to preserve his works that are mostly gone after 100 years.

After over 100 years, you can enjoy Zimmie’s Summer Book by Arch Bristow again or for the first time if you missed the 1908 printing. Arch Bristow was a young cartoonist, age 26, working at the Johnstown Tribune for a couple of years when his Zimmie cartoon became very popular. By 1910 it appeared in newspapers across the country, and in 1912 it was nationally syndicated. In 1908 the paper encouraged him to make a book of his Zimmie Cartoons and the Johnstown Tribune published it.
This was likely the first book that published Arch Bristow’s work. By the time this book was published in 1907, Arch had created the “Zimmie,” an owl character that appears in each of his caricatures. From E. F. Mack’s signature, he started penning the sketches in 1906 and continued into 1907. I assume Arch would have had to start in 1906 also to have enough sketches ready for publication in 1907.
